When integrated with the company's CardCare® Card Management System, these applications can be configured to incorporate issuance of ID documents such as smart cards which when presented are confirmed with the person's biometrics that are maintained in the issuing authority's official data base. Another application is the Advanced Passenger Information system used to help reduce travel document fraud. It is a portable system and is currently installed and used by a major European airline on specific inbound flights from Africa. Travel documents are checked, scanned along with the passenger's fingerprint and compiled into an electronic manifest. This is delivered by the airline to the immigration authorities prior to arrival so they can check the identity of disembarking passengers thereby ensuring that each passenger's ID is linked to the same documents at arrival as at boarding This is an excellent example of the practical benefit of employing a biometric identification system based on BioRegistrator™.
