Device Pairing
The device pairing process involves exchanging a randomly generated Bluetooth pairing key between the baiMobile reader and the PDA. This process ensures that the maximum size and strength authentication and encryption mechanisms available to Bluetooth are employed. Cryptographic material is also exchanged to support AES session key negotiation for subsequent encrypted tunnels over Bluetooth connections. Pairing information (Bluetooth and AES related material) are securely exchanged between the smartphone and the baiMobile reader over the supplied mini-USB cable.
Security
The baiMobile Wireless Smart Card Reader employs Bluetooth security level - Mode 3: link level enforced security with an added AES layer of encryption. It operates in the "non-discoverable" mode at all times - hidden from other Bluetooth devices and rejecting all other pairing requests. |
